Motala. Motala is a 50-year-old elephant who received a very special prosthetic leg. Motala was walking in the forest and accidentally stepped on a land mind. She was limping for three days until finally she arrived at the FAE Animal Hospital where the doctors took care of her immediately.
After years of rehabilitation, she was given a prosthetic leg to walk on. Land mines are always very dangerous and can hurt or even kill. It was astonishing that Motala was able to receive a prosthetic leg. |
Mr. Stubbs
Mr. Stubbs is an Arizona alligator that has lived most of his life without a tail. Mr. Stubbs' original tail was probably bitten off by another alligator. Luckily someone found him and brought him back to health. Mr. Stubbs needed a prosthetic tail so a research team went about constructing what they believe is the world's first prosthetic tail for an alligator. The tail took more than a year to create. For now, Mr. Stubbs wears an inflated water wing on the prosthetic to help him stay afloat. Once the flotation aid is removed, the other gators will stop making fun of him.
